Jenenu Getu is a highly experienced public health professional and clinical specialist with over 14 years of comprehensive experience in front-line healthcare delivery, health systems management, and quantitative research within Ethiopia. His unique expertise bridges the gap between acute clinical needs and evidence-based public health interventions.
Clinical Excellence & Surgical Expertise With over eight years of experience as a Chief Emergency Surgery Professional Specialist, Jenenu Getu has been at the forefront of providing life-saving surgical and obstetric services, including C-sections and emergency trauma care. This deep practical experience in urgent care pathways is a cornerstone of the high-standard surgical services offered at Bemnet Medium Clinic, particularly for underserved and rural populations.
Public Health & Strategic Leadership Prior to his surgical specialization, Jenenu Getu served as a Public Health Officer and Medical Director. In these roles, in addition to managing patients with diverse medical conditions, he led district-level strategic planning, managed large-scale community programs in nutrition and immunization, and collaborated with international NGOs to improve regional health outcomes.
Academic & Research Contributions Jenenu Getu holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology and a Master of Science (MSc) in Emergency Surgery. He is a published researcher with work featured in the African Journal of Reproductive Health and BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth. His research focuses on advanced biostatistics, neonatal survival analysis, and maternal health outcomes.
Beyond clinical practice, he contributes to the global medical community as a peer reviewer for international journals such as PLOS ONE and serves on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Women’s Health and Reproductive Medicine.

Tadiwos Utalo Urkashe is a highly experienced emergency surgery and public health professional with more than 16 years of frontline clinical and leadership experience serving communities across Southern Ethiopia. He is the Co-Founder of Bemnet Medium Clinic and a nationally recognized expert in emergency obstetric, gynecologic, trauma, and general surgical care.
With over nine years of advanced practice as an Expert Emergency Surgery Professional Specialist, Tadiwos has provided life-saving care in complex and time-critical situations, including emergency obstetric cases, complicated gynecologic conditions, road traffic injuries, and trauma emergencies—often in remote and resource-limited settings. His extensive experience in urgent care pathways ensures high-quality, timely, and compassionate services for patients at Bemnet Medium Clinic.
Tadiwos combines strong clinical expertise with a deep understanding of public health and maternal–newborn care systems. He has played a significant role in improving Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (CEmONC) services and referral systems, with a special focus on reaching underserved and rural populations.
In addition to his clinical work, Tadiwos actively contributes to national health initiatives. He serves as President of the Ethiopian Emergency Surgery Association (EESA) and is a member of national technical committees dedicated to improving maternal and newborn health outcomes in Ethiopia.
He holds a Master of Public Health in Reproductive Health, a Master’s degree in Integrated Emergency Surgery, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and is currently a PhD Candidate in Leadership. Tadiwos is also a published researcher with work featured in BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth.
